Rainy Mondays, vol. 4 – “Last Yearn”

Welcome back, and Happy New Year! I took a break from this series for a few weeks, but I’m happy to come back and talk about some new music.

I took advantage of some holiday sales to add to my music library, mostly from labels like Warp, Ghostly, and Kompakt. I’ve already encountered a few true gems in my bag of spoils – Squarepusher, Bibio, Telefon Tel Aviv, and GAS, to name a few – but one of the biggest surprises has been Kllo, an Australian group.

Check out “Last Yearn” above – it’s a filtered house track with a very emotive combo of 2-step beats and mellow electric pianos. Chloe Kaul’s vocals add a special kind of warmth to the instrumental, making it even more lovely than it was.

“Last Yearn” comes from Kllo’s Backwater album, which is available now. You can find it on Bandcamp. If physical copies are more your thing, you can purchase it on CD and LP at the Ghostly Store.
